What Is Your Favorite Past Time Online?

I spend a lot of time online and while I’m here occasionally I take a few minutes for myself to enjoy a game of Words with Friends or quick hand at poker.  A lot of my friends are playing similar games, but I thought I would reach out to you to find out what you do online for fun?  I’m going to share my Top 3 favorite past times online.

1.  Pinterist.  This virtual pinboard is a great place to discover and share the things you love.  It took me a while before I understood how it worked, but once I got it I discovered so many awesome ideas.  You can create pins of your favorite things and see other’s boards as well and re-pin things you find.  Beware – you will get lost for HOURS looking at some of the things.  Here are a couple things I have on my board:

The first picture of the ghost milkshakes is so cool.  You melt chocolate, paint it on the inside of the glass and fill with vanilla milkshake.  Isn’t that clever for a Halloween treat?  Now you see why Pinterist is so addictive.

2.  Words with Friends.  Words with Friends is now on Facebook and I’m addicted.  It’s a virtual scrabble game with friends.  I used to play it on my droid all the time, but now that it is on FB I always have a game or two going at once.  I’ve learned some pretty interesting words in the past month.  Check it out and we can play a game.

3. Poker.  Yes, I’m a poker addict.  I love Texas Hold’em and I’ve actually won a couple online tournaments.  My best?  First place out of about 1,400 people.  Not bad….  I play on a few different networks – if you play be sure to tell me where and we will have to sit at a table together.

What are your favorite online things to do?  I would love to hear what they are and check them out.  I know my youngest son plays a Ninja game on Facebook, my hubby does an occasional poker game, and my oldest son does some role playing games….but what else is there for Mom?

5 Laundry Tips from Future Friendly P&G Fabric Care

P&G contacted me about their future friendly fabric care line last month and although I have been using Tide for some time I never realized I was actually being nice to the environment…bonus!

Future Friendly

P&Gs powder compaction detergents deliver meaningful benefits, but also allow you to do your part to help the environment.  By compacting the entire carton powder laundry detergent line-up, if you dose as recommended, the following benefits are possible:

For you…

  • Offers you a convenient product that is easier to carry, handle and store, with the same number of loads per package as the previous non-compacted powder laundry detergents
  • The compacted powder laundry detergents are available in a variety of trusted P&G brands, including Tide, Gain, Cheer and Dreft
  • Enhanced stain removal with Tide and additional freshness via perfume microcapsule technology with Gain

For the environment…

  • P&G’s compaction of its carton powder laundry detergents can help save up to 22 million pounds of total packaging annually
  • Saves up to four million GJs of energy each year, or the equivalent of the energy needed to provide 34 thousand average homes with electricity annually
  • Saves up to three billion liters of water during production and disposal of the detergent each year, or enough to fill up to 1,224 Olympic-sized swimming pools

For added convenience, P&G’s compacted powder laundry detergents are available online via various eRetailers, including the P&G eStore.  And, from now until May 31, eStore is offering a savings of $4.00 when you purchase four or more P&G Future Friendly products that help save water, save energy and reduce waste.

Laundry Tips 101

  • Proper Dosing: With the new compacted powder laundry detergents, use 1/3 less detergent than previous non-compacted versions. This lower amount is reflected in a new scoop size in the compacted detergent boxes, as well as within the usage instructions included on the package.
  • Sort This Way: Sort oranges with reds, purples, and bright blues; navies with blacks; and creams with tans.
  • Got a stain?: Find quick, step-by-step cleaning instructions from the experts at Tide and the laundry rooms of people like you at www.laundry.com.
  • Liquid Softener Know-How: To help prevent staining, avoid pouring liquid softener directly on fabrics, as it’s usually direct contact that causes spotting or staining. Instead, use the automatic dispenser in your washer.  If you don’t have one, simply add your fabric softener to the rinse cycle.
  • Don’t Over Dry-It: Avoid overdrying. Too much heat can set wrinkles, shrink certain cottons and wear out dark-colored fabrics.

Product Round-Up: Lands End, Mr. Beams, and VooDoo Blend

Land’s End

James recently got new water shoes from Land’s End.  Summer is right around the corner (although today doesn’t feel like it is) and every year we purchase him water shoes for the beach.  I have to say – I have never seen water shoes like these.  These look and feel like everyday tennis shoes but the material is mesh like and there are tiny drainage holes at the bottom of the shoe.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these shoes.  The best part is the price tag – they are less than $25 on sale.  If you spend any time at the beach, lake, or outdoors this summer protect your child’s feet with Land’s End water shoes for boys or girls.

Mr. Beam’s Ceiling Light

We got a couple of these lights to use in our crawl space under the house.  Whoever built our home thought it would be a great idea to put the furnace/AC unit in a 3″ high dirt floor crawl space that is black as night.  In order to change our filter we had to crawl under the space to find  the light switch using a flashlight.  I’m not sure about you but not being able to see what is in the dark isn’t my favorite thing.  The Mr. Beam’s Ceiling Light is motion sensored and turned on every time without fail.  In addition it lit up the entire crawl space with no problem.  We love this thing!

Voodoo Blend

My husband drives an older Nissan Pathfinder with leather seats.  However, the leather is rather lack luster.  Last weekend he tried the Voodoo Leather Rejuvenator and although no product would restore his seats to their original condition, the Voodoo did a remarkable job.  It made the leather darker, softer, and more “hydrated” in our opinion.  I’m not sure if it is my imagination but it made the leather SMELL like leather too…an added bonus for the new car feel. You can buy it now for $12.99 on Amazon.
