Biolage Kiss Dry Goodbye Program with SheSpeaks

Did you hear the SheSpeaks has teamed up with Biolage on a new project called Kiss Dry Goodbye Salon Program?  It’s a pretty cool program I am hoping comes soon to where I live.  The program is running currently in select locations in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Jersey, Maryland, North Carolina and South Carolina.  There are a wide array of participating salons (see below) in tons of different cities.  Women who join will have the opportunity to receive special hair care products and salon services from designated salons.  They will also be eligible for larger discounts on salon services.  Not only will participating members receive services but they will also receive products from the Biolage hydrathérapie line.

I did try the shampoo and mask this morning and was pleasantly surprised.  The shampoo lather was really thick and it smelled wonderful.  Minus the scalp massage it was like being in a salon.

About the Biolage hydrathérapie line

Taking inspiration from the Rainforest’s ever-replenishing Moisture Cycle, Biolage new technology hydrathérapie continuously moisturizes hair to help stop the dehydration cycle with the Anti-Dry Care of Aloe + Passion Fruit.  From my experience the product holds up to it’s name.

Benefits of the Biolage Kiss Dry Goodbye Program

Other than the absolutely wonderful product you will receive – two complimentary products (shampoo and masque valued over $30), you will receive discounts on salon services for up to four visits during the program.  You will also receive discounts on purchases of any two Biolage hair care products for up to four visits.

Want to learn more about the program?  Join @SheSpeaksUp on twitter and join in the conversation using the hashtag #SSBiolage.

Disclosure: I received samples from Biolage (used them this morning and loved the results – but that isn’t my purpose) from SheSpeaks in conjunction with this informative post.

Walgreens Easy Prescription Refills – Refills by Scan with #Giveaway 5 Winners

Our family has certain medications that we take every month and every month I put off calling to order refills.  The truth of the matter is that I hate talking on the telephone and being put on hold to call in a refill.  I’m sure you aren’t any different.  Well, Walgreens now offers Refills by Scan.  I tried it this month when reordering my cholesterol medication and it was quick and painless.  I have no idea how it actually works or how scanning the barcode on my pill bottle with my cellphone is enough to make this work, but it does.  The app is available both for the iPhone, BlackBerry and the Android.

Not only can you capture a prescription bar code from your phone and we’ll have your refill ready to pick up, but the app has these other capabilities.

Get Fuller Eyelashes – Grow Your Lashes With EnvyDerm #Giveaway

What’s the secret to fuller lashes?

Retail Cost:  $99.95

It never fails.  The men get beautiful, healthy long lashes in my family and I’m cursed with short, straight and some times non-existent eyelashes.  I have my mother to thank for that.  I remember growing up watching her apply fake lashes each morning as part of her routine.  For whatever reason I have never had the discipline and because of that have always had “blah” eyes.  For the past two weeks I have been using EnvyDerm to see if I can fix my lash problem.

What is EnvyDerm?

EnvyDerm is a groundbreaking, new nonprescription formula eyelash growth serum.  The active (natural) ingredients include bioavailable lipo-oligopeptides that stimulate keratin genes.  The SymPeptide technology lengthens and strengthens natural lashes.  It also contains vitamins, minerals, and amino acids to moisturize and nourish lashes and brows.  Honestly, I have no idea what lipo-oligopeptides or SymPeptide technology is, but I do know that for me personally I have had no problem using this for the past couple weeks.

How is EnvyDerm used?

EnvyDerm is applied each night before bedtime to the root of your top and bottom lashes with s soft bristled applicator.  The product itself is clear and applied much like liquid eyeliner.  My personal experience with the product has been fine, although when I accidentally got it in my eye it did sting a little but went away with a couple blinks of the eye and caused no damage.

When can I expect to see results?

According to the chart below the lash line becomes thicker in as little as two weeks.  I missed application 4 nights this week but by next week I should see some changes.  According to the manufacturer users saw a 25 percent increase in length during this period as well.

Where can I buy EnvyDerm?

You can purchase EnvyDerm from Amazon.com, EnvyDerm.com, Drugstore.com, and Overstock.com.  However, you can win one Envyderm product with a retail value of: $99.95 right here!

What My Mom Taught Me About Being A Parent

Because Mother’s Day is fast approaching I was asked the following about parenting advice:

What is the best advice your mother ever gave to you about parenting?

We all learned something from our moms. What did yours teach you (either when you were little or a mom yourself!) that you’re grateful to know today?

Honestly, I don’t ever recall my mom sitting me down to give me parenting advice.  I do, however, remember critiquing her parenting skills while growing up.  I remember saying a million times that “I’ll never do that” or something similar.  A great example – my mother used to lick her finger or napkin or whatever was handy to wipe something from my face.  I absolutely hated it.  I swore I would NEVER do that to my child – ever!  I do it though and giggle every time.

I think the most valuable thing my mom ever taught me was independence and self-reliance.  My mother let me make mistakes as I grew up.  My mom let me experience life with no (visible) strings attached, holding me back.  She offered guidance, but always honored my choices – even the wrong ones.  My mom didn’t coddle me and that is something I am thankful for…

My children are raised the same way.  I do not spoil them, only with love.  I make my children do chores around the house and give them responsibilities.  My children will make mistakes, but I will guide them to help ensure those mistakes won’t be disastrous.   I am raising my children much like my mom raised me.  Why?  Because it worked.

Thanks Mom for teaching me how to be a Mom.
